In this paper, formic acetic anhydride was prepared from formic acid and acetic anhydride, then N,N'-bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl)-1,6-hexanediamine was formylated to obtain the hindered-amine light stabilizer UV-90 (N,N'-bis(2,2,6,6-tetramethyl-4-piperidyl)-N,N'-diformylhexanediamine). The effects of solvent amount, reaction time, reaction temperature and material ratio on the reaction were investigated, and the optimal reaction conditions were determined, with the product yield stably reaching 96%.
