Light Stabilizer Formulation for SBS-Modified Asphalt

Light stabilizer formulation for styrene-block-copolymer-modified asphalt

Light stabilizer formulation for styrenic block copolymer modified asphalt
modified asphalt light stabilizer -> HS-770 structural formula

To improve the thermal-storage stability of ethylene-butadiene-styrene block copolymer (SBS)-modified asphalt, 38 stabilizer formulations were designed based on the vulcanization mechanism. By testing the changes in segregation softening-point difference after 48 h, softening point, penetration and ductility of the samples, the improvement effect of each formulation's stabilizer on the thermal-storage stability of the modified asphalt was studied, and the optimal formulation of the new stabilizer was determined. The results show that the optimal formulation of the new direct-addition stabilizer is sulfur (S) : tetramethylthiuram disulfide (TMTD) : zinc oxide (ZnO) : kaolin in a mass ratio of 60 : 16 : 4 : 1; this stabilizer improves the thermal-storage stability of SBS-modified asphalt, effectively raises its softening point, and provides a certain improvement to the 135°C Brookfield viscosity and penetration.
