Uses & Characteristics UV Absorber UV-531 is a high-performance, efficient anti-aging additive that absorbs UV light in the 240–340 nm range. It features light color, non-toxicity, good compatibility, low migration and easy processing. It provides maximum protection to polymers, helps reduce discoloration, and delays yellowing and the loss of physical properties. It is widely used in PE, PVC, PP, PS, PC, PMMA, polypropylene fiber and EVA. It also delivers excellent light-stabilizing effects for alkyd and amino clear coatings, polyurethanes, acrylics, epoxies and other air-drying products, as well as automotive refinish paints, powder coatings and rubbers. Recommended dosage: 0.1%–0.5%.
UV Absorber UV-531 is used as a UV absorber for polymers and vinyl products, strongly absorbing UV at 300–375 nm. HDPE and LDPE: pipes, greenhouse films (combined with LOWILITE Q84 for an enhanced effect and strong pesticide resistance). PP (fiber grade, etc.), polyolefin copolymers (EPR, EPDM, EVA…), PVC, polyesters, artificial resins, PS, ABS. UV-531 is approved for food packaging in many countries. Typical dosage 0.2%–0.6%; to prevent caking, UV-531 should be transported and stored at 30–35°C.
Chemical Properties  Pale yellow crystals or white powder. Freely soluble in benzene, n-hexane and acetone; slightly soluble in ethanol; sparingly soluble in dichloroethane.
