Beijing Tiangang: Forge Ahead, Progress, Progress, Forge Ahead

 

    HC360 (Huicong.com): Tiangang is a rising force in China's additives industry. Could you introduce your company's current production scale and product sales situation?

    Li Yuqing: Tiangang Auxiliary is still rather small in the additives industry as a whole; we are only a sizable enterprise in the domestic hindered-amine light stabilizer segment. The annual domestic demand for this segment is only a little over 1,000 tons. At present, Tiangang's total annual production capacity can reach 4,000 tons, the largest in China for hindered-amine light stabilizers, and nearly 50% of that is exported. Our main domestic market is agricultural film, because agricultural film is the product most obviously affected by photo-aging, and our market share in agricultural film can exceed 70%.

 

    HC360 (Huicong.com): As we understand it, many long-established additives companies are declining, yet Tiangang has developed rapidly. May we ask what your secret is?

    Li Yuqing: Tiangang's development has spanned more than ten years. Over a decade ago, Tiangang's predecessor was the Beijing Huashan Auxiliary Factory. When it first started, domestic annual consumption was only dozens of tons. The market development in recent years has provided Tiangang with good opportunities. Tiangang also attaches importance to R&D; we cooperate with well-known domestic universities to jointly develop new products. Tiangang's development is also inseparable from the customers who have supported us over the years, and at the same time we repay our customers' support with quality-stable products, achieving a win-win outcome.

 

    HC360 (Huicong.com): What was the biggest difficulty Tiangang encountered in its development, and how was it overcome?

    Li Yuqing: Difficulties arise all the time, but Tiangang has been fortunate — whatever difficulties we encounter, we receive care and support from people from all walks of life, and we would like to express our gratitude to them here.

 

    HC360 (Huicong.com): Society now pays very high attention to plastic additives, and countries have introduced relevant regulations one after another. How does Tiangang approach green and environmental protection?

    Li Yuqing: In fact, hindered-amine light stabilizers are rarely affected by various regulations. The addition level of light stabilizers in plastics is very small, but they can extend the service life of plastics. For example, for agricultural greenhouse film, without light stabilizer it generally needs replacement after 4–6 months, but with light stabilizer it can be extended to 1 year, 1.5 years, or even 2 years — so it plays a positive role in protecting the environment and conserving resources.

 

    HC360 (Huicong.com): Does Tiangang plan to launch any new products soon? Are you preparing to enter other additive fields?

    Li Yuqing: Tiangang launched a new grade, HS362, this year. This grade has been in the application-testing phase since 2003 — three years now — and its light-stabilizing effect is superior to similar products, but the price has not increased, so its cost-performance ratio is very good.

    We will focus on the hindered-amine light stabilizer industry and currently have no plans to enter other additive fields.
