Development Trends of Light Stabilizers
Development Trends of Light Stabilizers — At present, the development of light stabilizers is mainly focused on high molecular weight, multifunctionality and reactivity.

(1) High molecular weight: Increasing the molecular weight of light stabilizers can effectively prevent their volatilization, migration and extraction within polymers. There are two main routes to high molecular weight: one is to develop monomeric high-MW light stabilizers by dimerizing or otherwise combining light-stabilizing functional groups with auxiliary groups; the other is to homopolymerize or condense monomeric light stabilizers that carry reactive groups.
(2) Multifunctionality: As research on plastic additives deepens, it becomes increasingly difficult to develop products with entirely new structures; the main development direction now is the compounding and multifunctionality of products. Multifunctionality is the future trend for polymer additives.
(3) Reactivity: Introducing reactive groups into light-stabilizer molecules allows them to bond with the base polymer during processing, so they remain permanently within the polymer material. Considerable research has been carried out at home and abroad, and some products have already been commercialized.
