Which Plastics Are Light Stabilizers Mainly Used In?

In today's plastics industry, light stabilizers have become an indispensable part. However, you may not be clear about which plastics light stabilizers are mainly applied to. Today, from the perspective of Beijing Tiangang Auxiliary, we will explore the main applications of light stabilizers.

First, a light stabilizer is a chemical substance that absorbs or scatters ultraviolet light, thereby protecting polymer materials from UV damage. Since many plastics degrade when exposed to ultraviolet light, light stabilizers are of great significance for these plastics. In Beijing Tiangang Auxiliary's production line, the light stabilizers we produce are mainly applied to the following plastics: Which Plastics Are Light Stabilizers Mainly Used In? 配图

 1. Polyethylene (PE) Polyethylene is a widely used plastic material with excellent processability and low cost. However, it is relatively sensitive to ultraviolet light and prone to degradation. Therefore, the use of light stabilizers can effectively improve the weatherability of polyethylene and extend its service life.

 2. Polypropylene (PP) Polypropylene is a lightweight, transparent plastic material widely used in packaging, medical devices, and other fields. However, its weatherability is relatively poor and it is easily affected by ultraviolet light. The use of light stabilizers can significantly improve the weatherability of polypropylene, keeping its performance stable during outdoor use.

 3. Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) Polyvinyl chloride is a plastic material with a wide range of hardness and easy processability, widely used in construction, wires and cables, and other fields. However, it is prone to degradation under UV exposure, leading to color change and mechanical property decline. By adding light stabilizers, the weatherability of PVC can be effectively improved, preventing its degradation under UV exposure.

 4. Polycarbonate (PC) Polycarbonate is a highly transparent and strong plastic material, widely used in the manufacture of eyewear, medical equipment, and other fields. However, it is prone to yellowing and mechanical property decline under UV exposure. Adding light stabilizers can significantly improve the weatherability of polycarbonate and extend its service life.

 5. Polyamide (PA) Polyamide is a tough, wear-resistant plastic material widely used in the manufacture of mechanical parts and textiles.

However, it is prone to degradation and yellowing under UV exposure. By adding light stabilizers, the weatherability of polyamide can be effectively improved, keeping its performance stable during outdoor use. In conclusion, light stabilizers are mainly applied to plastics that are sensitive to ultraviolet light.
