Mechanism of Hindered-Amine Light Stabilizers
The hindered-amine light stabilizer is a product of Tiangang Auxiliary. This stabilizer is mainly applied in polymer materials such as polyethylene, polypropylene and PVC to enhance their stability under UV light.
The mechanism of hindered-amine light stabilizers mainly includes the following three aspects:
1. Absorbing UV light: Hindered-amine light stabilizers can absorb UV rays, thereby reducing the UV content in polymer materials. The hindered-amine molecules in this stabilizer can selectively absorb UV light and convert it into heat or other low-energy radiation, thus reducing the degradation of polymer materials.
2. Quenching free radicals: Hindered-amine light stabilizers can quench free radicals, thereby slowing the oxidative degradation of polymer materials. In polymer materials, free radicals are initiated by UV light, and free radicals are the main cause of oxidative degradation. Hindered-amine light stabilizers can react with free radicals and convert them into more stable molecules, thereby reducing oxidative degradation.
3. Inhibiting chain reactions: Hindered-amine light stabilizers can inhibit the chain reactions of polymer materials, thereby slowing their degradation. In polymer materials, chain reactions cause material degradation and yellowing. Hindered-amine light stabilizers can react with the active molecules in chain reactions, thereby inhibiting the progression of chain reactions and reducing degradation and yellowing.
In conclusion, the mechanism of hindered-amine light stabilizers is multifaceted and can effectively protect polymer materials from UV damage. This stabilizer has a wide range of applications — in plastic products, rubber products, coatings, fibers and other fields — thereby improving the stability and service life of these materials under UV light.
