Swiss Ciba Specialty Chemicals Develops New Polyurethane Light Stabilizer

Recently, the SwissCibaSpecialty Chemicals developed a new light stabilizer, TinuvinPUR866, which is characterised by improving the weather resistance of thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) used in sports and leisure products and giving products excellent long-term colour retention. Unlike many known light stabilizers that affect the initial colour of materials, TinuvinPUR866 does not affect the initial colour of injection-moulded TPU compounds, and is therefore especially suitable for transparent and light-coloured TPU products.
In addition, transparent and light-coloured TPU products are particularly prone to discolouration when exposed to sunlight; the new light stabilizer can also prevent this discolouration, keepingTPUthe products always retaining their original visual appearance.
